About
Hello, my name is Eliot Piltz, and Hand Cut Films is my company. In an age of digital editing, the name is a metaphor of my belief that most crafts are best done by hand: compare antique furniture or a potter's masterful collection with today's ubiquitous Made in China brands. Thereby my goal is to be creative, precise and deliberate with every cut, and tell the best story possible, given the tools and materials available.
I focus my profession as an editor, because post-production is my favorite part of the filmmaking process. This is a natural fit, because I am able to sit for long periods of time without food, sunlight or oxygen.
Originally from the States, I now happily live in Vancouver, BC. Through living in many great cities and travelling through much of Europe, the U.S. and Mexico, I have gained invaluable life experience, which contributes to my abilities as an editor. This perspective and awareness is key in relating to the many types of stories I face, and helps me better understand my audience. Additionally, my parents passed on their creative genes- mother a painter, father a writer- which I have adopted, adapted and applied to my craft.
Though only a small portion of my credits make it to IMDb, I invite you to see my profile. ![]()
